How is it determined what ad will be displayed?
All ads that match a specific customer search will be displayed in the search results. Those ads that are most relevant and perform the best over time will be rewarded with incrementally higher rankings. Less relevant and low performance ads will display, but not in the highest positions.

Your ad's success creates more success. Competitive prices and relevance will drive the performance of your ad over time. When your ad's performance increases (i.e., a higher click-through rate for specific categories and keywords), your ad quality rates higher and your ranking increases.

Can I tell how my ad is performing relative to other advertisers?
An average position is provided for each ad on the Pay Per Click tab of My Account. It is the average position of your ad in search results on superpages.com. Positions 1-8 appear on the first page, 9-16 on the second page, etc. Increase your average position by incresing your bid or optimizing your ad.

Is there a way to maintain the number one position?
There is not a way to constantly maintain the number one position because competitors can change their prices and ad content. If you want to appear near the top within your search criteria you will need to monitor competitive ads and update yours accordingly.

What factors contirbute to my ad's performance?
Your ad's performance depends on both a competitive price per click and relevant content. The better your ad performs, the higher your potential click through rate.

The factors that contribute to your ad's ranking in search results are listed below in no specific order:

  • Price per click
  • Ad title and description
  • Category and Geography selection
  • Keyword selection
  • Business Profile information
  • Content on your Web page
  • Click through rate of the ad over time - the better it performs, the better ranking you will receive.
How do I create a relevant ad?
  • Write targeted and relevant ad headlines and promotional text that effectively describe your business and its geographic service area to your potential customers.
  • Choose the optimal categories, keywords and target audience that best describe your business and the service area for each campaign.
  • Build a comprehensive business profile so customers can easily learn more about your business and make better decisions.
  • The page on your Web site that customers visit should mention your business, service, offer, promotion and other relevant information that can help your customers make purchasing decisions. Be sure that your Web page is relevant to the categories and keywords associated with your ad.

What is more important, relevancy or price per click?

Ad relevancy is essential to increasing your ranking, however competitive price per click is still a very important part of your ad's success. Watch your most relevant competition and make sure your price per click matches or beats their price per click for specific categories.

You should set a competitive price per click on all your campaigns but your success also depends on the overall quality of your ad. You should also choose appropriate categories/keywords, target the right audience location, and make sure your ad and Web page content are relevant to customers.
